There were a few challenges with coming up with a locally available alternative to the cheese curd a real Poutine uses, but i came up with a suitable solution. Nanaimo Bars and Other Dangerous Experiments

When I was in Canada earlier in the year I learned of the existence of Nanaimo Bars. I found that to be as delicious as I had imagined, and was determined to make some when I got back home. I duly made some and in doing so learned just how bad these things were. So at risk of damaging other people's health I irresponsibly present to you the Nanaimo Bar recipe I adapted for New Zealand ingredients.

Kiwifruit and Ginger Wine

Saag for Cheats and the Impatient

A saag is a mild spinach curry that works really well with chicken, or potatoes, or paneer, or pumpkin ... or all of them together. What is described here in not an authentic curry. It gives the experience and enjoyment of eating a saag without having to do all the time consuming mucking about that authentic Indian cooking appears to need.
